Does Pantone have a Graphics Metallic guide for Uncoated paper?
Pantone does not offer a Graphics Metallic Color Guide printed entirely on uncoated paper stock. The Pantone Metallic color system is available only on coated paper.
Although metallic inks can be printed on uncoated paper, this is not a common printing practice. Uncoated paper is more absorbent than coated paper, causing the metallic ink to penetrate the paper fibers. As a result, the metallic effect and reflective luster are significantly reduced, and the printed color will not achieve the intended appearance of a metallic finish.
The Pantone Formula Guide Uncoated includes the seven metallic base inks (Pantone 871–877) in the front section of the guide, along with the other specialty base inks. These swatches provide a visual reference for how the metallic base inks appear when printed on uncoated paper.
Because Pantone does not maintain a complete Metallic Uncoated color system or collect measurement data for metallic colors on uncoated stock, there is no dedicated digital library or corresponding color values available in Pantone Connect. The metallic base ink swatches included in the Formula Guide Uncoated are intended as a physical print reference only and are not part of a complete Metallic Uncoated color system.
